Loving my country Philippines

One of the readers in this site contributed a factual
reaction on the
patriotic message of Jaeyoun Kim. He has an inspiring reply and
every Filipino around the world must read this reflective essay.

Below is the content of his message:

My friend Jaeyoun Kim, I agree with you. You are
absolutely right in saying that love is the one we need in the Philippines. You
know why? Without love you can be selfish. You do not want to share or give to
others what is good for you instead you want to take more and more, and this is
the corrupt practices that is happening in every sector in the Philippines, the
government, military and even in private institutions. We had already suffered
this selfishness long time ago and it becoming worst every hour of the day.

I am a Catholic also and since child I was told how to
love, respect and help my neighbor, and be a God fearing person. But while I
grew-up with faith, I became more concern to my surroundings like community and
nature environment. While our population has a tremendous growth, I noticed
more corruption everywhere and it worsens as expected when somebody tries to
stand against it, got killed. And nobody tried to stop it because they are
afraid, lack of courage and willingness to do it.

We have lot of people against in every government we had
but they didn't come-up with the right solution. In fact, many of innocence
civilians have lost their lives in trying to protest the love and respect
they're longing for from those in the position. Some innocent young Filipinos have
tried to carry guns against the government to claim what is good for them but
was not heard nor respected. Your example of public official in Korea is not
corrupt. He was the president of goodwill. He guided his people to do good
things. Unfortunately, it was not happen in the Philippines since I was born in
August 24, 1972. What we have found after putting them into their respective
offices in the government is corruption.

People in the Philippines have witness it on their own
eyes. So how could we make our country rich like your South Korea if we remain
like this, without action, waiting for those corrupt people to re-born
themselves and show their love to the community and the country as a whole? How
long we have to wait for those impossible things to happen? Yes, they love for
money but not for their people and their country. My friend, love is just
within the heart of every human being, it is up to us when where going to use
it and how we are going to give it.

Many of us Filipinos have love of our country that is why
you can see protesters everywhere, you can see OFWs everywhere, because that is
the way we showed up our love of country and our future by providing our
families need. As Christians, we all know that love is the greatest commandment
of God because love has everything. But love could not renew evils. Evils have
their own way. Man is given freedom to choose between good and evil. You are
just lucky if most of your public officials have chosen the good way. But if
not, you know what will happen to its people.

What all I want now if for all Filipinos around the globe
must show their concern not only the so-called love of country. Our concern and
willingness to stop the root of many problems in the Philippines which is
corruption. As a concern Filipino citizen there is no other solution but to
stop corruption. You may ask how? It might be impossible and so risky since the
corruption virus have penetrated and scattered overwhelmingly in our beloved
country. I am ready to lead and guide all concerned Filipinos to stop
corruption by termination. Who will terminate those proven corrupt? They are
just around the corner and I am calling them right now.

They can show their submission, willingness to join with
my solution. I am not saying I will be the one to terminate them but it would
be the concerned Filipino individual to be called as the terminator. And the
world may call them the "Corrupt Terminator". I am sorry to tell
everyone that I am just a poor and a victim of corruption so I was not able to
get the course what I wanted for.
